FAQ

Where do portrait sessions take place?

We will talk about what you are envisioning for your senior portrait session and then come up with a few location options.  If you like green spaces, we may go to a park, a farm or a garden.  If you like more of a downtown setting, we can go to downtown Raleigh, Cary or Apex– they all have a different feel.  It just depends on what you are looking for.  I can recommend a bunch of pretty spots, but I want to know what you are thinking too.  Click here to view several more beautiful location options in our area!

When should I book my session?

Email me or call at least 2 weeks in advance to allow for space availability. I take a limited amount of sessions per month to ensure the best possible experience for you.

Do you photograph senior guys too?

Absolutely!  I’ve found that the guys typically feel more comfortable if we involve an activity that they like.  They usually do it for their moms, but end up having just as much fun as the girls do!

Do you retouch each photo?

Each photo is edited for color, saturation, lighting, to ensure that your collection of images tells a cohesive story.  Any image that is ordered gets a little extra retouch love to fix blemishes, flyaway hairs, undereye circles etc.  The image will be enhanced, but you will still look like you!

Do you help me choose outfits and locations?

Yes!  The planning and collaboration that we will do before your shoot will ensure that we are on the same page for your session. This is key for beautiful photos and a stress-free shoot. Once you begin the booking process, I will send you a questionnaire to get to know you better and understand what style and feel you are looking for in your session.  Click here to read more about planning for your session.

What does the session fee cover? Does it include any images?

The session fee is paid at the time you book your session, and is non-refundable. This fee covers the planning + preparation for the session, the time and talent of the photographer during the session,  the image preparation and the sales appointment where you view and choose your images and products.

The session fee does not include any image or products, and is a non-refundable fee that is required in order to secure your consultation, session date and sales appointment on my calendar.

How soon after our session will our images be available?

We will schedule a viewing + ordering session about 7-14 days after your portrait session.  This session will take about 45 minutes to an hour.  During this time we will view your lovely photos for the first time together and take a look at product samples.  Seeing everything in person will really give you a sense of what products are most important to you.  You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions, to look at different walls in your home to see what sizes will work best and enough time to pick out your favorites.

The goal of the viewing + ordering session is to finalize your order so we can get your prints and products to you as soon as possible!

When will I get my order?

Depending on your final selections, your custom products will be ready in  about 2 weeks. Digital images are delivered digitally in about 72 hours!

How long does a typical session last?

Sessions typically last up to 2 hours, depending on the type of session you book and number of locations we shoot at.

What happens if it rains on the day of my outdoor session?

In the unfortunate event of rain during a scheduled outdoor session we will reschedule for another day, or utilize an indoor location.  Cloudy days are awesome and provide nice soft light for portraits!

“I’ve never seen pictures like this of me before and it made me so happy when I got to see all of them. Amy makes you feel so great in front of the camera and she lets you know that you’re doing well – her expressions when she looked at the camera to see my picture made my face light up!  It made me feel beautiful.”
